Respuesta corta

A strong Spanish digital nomad application is organised by legal requirement, not by the number of uploaded files. The evidence differs for employees, freelancers and company owners.

Core documents

Passport/application documents; evidence of the foreign company; proof of the prior employment or professional relationship; remote-work evidence; qualifications or experience; financial means; criminal records; healthcare; and Social Security.

Employees

Employment agreement, employer letter, payslips/bank receipts and the employer's Social Security solution should be consistent.

Freelancers

Professional contracts, invoices, bank receipts and self-employed Social Security planning are central. Spanish professional activity must stay within the statutory limit.

Company owners

UGE guidance may require ownership/control evidence and additional corporate activity documents. Company turnover should not be confused with the applicant's personal financial means.

Translations and apostille

Foreign public documents should be checked before translation. Apostille/legalisation depends on the document and issuing country.

Explanatory letter

UGE guidance recognises the usefulness of an explanatory document where evidence does not fit a standard pattern. The letter should connect evidence, not replace missing requirements.

Case preparation workflow

  1. Confirm the correct Spanish immigration route.
  2. Identify which evidence comes from the applicant and which comes from the company or foreign authority.
  3. Resolve Social Security and professional-recognition issues before filing where relevant.
  4. Prepare foreign public documents, including apostille/legalisation and translation where required.
  5. File and keep a complete copy of the submitted bundle.
  6. Plan post-approval steps such as visa, entry, Social Security registration and TIE.

What CIVIUS should verify before filing

The legal route, current official thresholds, document validity, the relationship between employer and payor, qualification evidence and family documentation. International applicants should not rely on a single generic checklist because the evidence changes materially by profile.

Updates

Any salary threshold or administrative amount shown on this page must display a real review date. Spanish immigration rules and administrative criteria can change, so numerical information should never be detached from its official source.
